Improvisation, or Improv, is a theatrical art form that relies heavily on audience participation to create spontaneous scenes performed without any preparation.

Imagined Reality Improv has been performing since 2016. We are a cohesive group of quick-hitting improvisers who enjoy creating interesting and comedic scenes on the spot, driven entirely by suggestions from the audience. Without input from the audience, there would be no performance – you never know what is going to happen next, and neither do we! Each of our eclectic members brings something unique to the troupe.

Join us for an upcoming show and feel free to contact us with any comments or questions, we would love to hear from you!

We send a heartfelt thank you for your support of Imagined Reality Improv and all of the arts!

Michelle has been a member of Imagined Reality Improv since 2016 when she also began teaching Improv to kids. She teaches adults of all levels as well. Michelle has volunteered at Purdy Women’s Prison teaching Improv to help women earn credits for their High School degree. She has a degree in Environmental Chemistry and enjoyed working for several years at the Snohomish Health District. Her favorite hobbies are reading, writing, and playing games with her family. Her husband Tom and two kids, Thomas, and Jennifer have provided unwavering support and help in this venture for which she is eternally grateful. Tyler has been performing with Imagined Reality since 2016, when, after years of classes, he wanted to perform regularly. He invited friends to his basement to see what they might be able to do and well, here we are. It was one of the best decisions he’s ever made. Tyler can also be seen periodically in community theater on Bainbridge Island, he has a fabulous wife and three kids, and he lives on a small farm with more animals than is probably wise. Oh, and he’s also an attorney.

Nancy Peterson spent her life in California as a professional clarinetist and instrumental music teacher performing the works of others, but wanted a creative outlet that would allow her own expression. After studying improv in California, she moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 2011 where she met Tyler and Patrick in a Bainbridge Island improv class and found her inner “funny.” Nancy directs and performs with Disorderly Conduct Improv in Port Ludlow. She also is principal clarinet with the Port Angeles Symphony and plays with Toot Sweet, a Victorian-costumed clarinet ensemble. Nancy’s philosophy is that you can’t laugh too long or too often, and that if you can make someone else laugh, you’ve had a day well spent.

While not shy by nature (an early job was telling jokes on a jungle boat ride at a Six Flags park in Houston, Texas), Patrick found the most difficult part of improv to be the first step in joining a class. By training and trade he is a lawyer, though his interest in performance has had a long hold, with appearances in various small roles in bigger productions, or larger roles in smaller ones, on stage, screen and television. Patrick has found improv a subject of fascination – the most ephemeral of entertainment, except maybe soap bubbles. Patrick is a founding member of the group. Email – patrickr21@mac.com
